About us

Gym Jams soft play is a family run soft play in Normandy, Guildford, Surrey.

Gym Jams has been run by the Pick family since 2005

The day to day running of the sessions is delivered by Jon. He has great attention to detail and offer a first-class service to all the parents, grandparents and childminders. By setting out the soft play area so families can see their little ones wherever they are, it gives adults the opportunity to sit back and have their drink, happy in the knowledge their little one is playing safely. They endeavour to ensure that each and every adult can take the opportunity to have a bit of ‘me’ time, even in the midst of soft play chaos!

Jon also volunteers as the Manager of the village hall, including duties as the Health & Safety Officer. His wife, Amanda, works behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of Gym Jams. Updating policies, procedures, risk assessments and answering any emails. Amanda has a degree in Leisure Management and has qualifications in childcare learning & development, playwork, gymnastics coaching, paediatric first aid, first aid at work, mental health first aid, health & safety, and child protection. Amanda owned a pre-school playgroup for over 8 years and worked in Local Authority ‘Play and Youth Development’ for over 11 years, where she delivered play opportunities for children from age 2-16 years old, and trained professionals in safeguarding children, special educational needs and disabilities, and in behaviour management of children.

When not at college or university, Jon and Amanda`s three children often help out, resulting in an all-around family affair, and creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all.

You can rest assured that between Jon, Amanda, Dominic, Daniella & Oliver – Gym Jams is in very capable hands.

Gym Jams is overseen by Jon’s wife, Amanda, who undertakes all the admin when she isn’t at work.  She has written the policies, procedures and has risk assessed all the equipment. Amanda has an enhanced DBS, is qualified to degree level in Leisure Management, and also has qualifications in childcare learning & development, playwork, gymnastics coaching, paediatric first aid, first aid at work, mental health first aid, health & safety, and child protection. She trains professionals in safeguarding, special educational needs and disabilities, and in behaviour management of children. Amanda owned a pre-school playgroup for over 8 years and worked in Local Authority ‘Play and Youth Development’ for over 11 years. She is now an Operations Director for a private childcare company.

Jon and Amanda`s three children often help out, resulting in an all-around family affair, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all. Their oldest two children are now at university, so their appearances at Gym Jams are based around the academic terms, but their youngest child is there most days after school, helping Jon pack away the equipment.  He is a cadet for St Johns Ambulance so can be an especially useful young man to have around at times

Jon is also the Health & Safety Officer for the village hall so you can, therefore, rest assured that between Jon, Amanda, Dominic, Daniella & Oliver, Gym Jams soft play in very capable hands.
